An Empty Bed

Written for a young widow that lost her husband in a tragic accident.

Woman in Black Long-sleeved Cardigan

As I crawl into an empty bed

I hope to see the back of your head

Or hear the rise of your gentle snore

Feel your warmth on a Winters night

Saying – Goodnight, God Bless, sleep tight

To wake tomorrow, to love you more

As I trawl the world for sleep

Eyes shut tight

So I do no weep

I dream of days that are in my head

Of the days I did not have

An empty bed

Next poem.
